Jack Pierce
Un 5 de mayo de 1889 nacia Jack Pierce; siendo adolescente abandono su pais natal Grecia para irse a vivir a los Estados Unidos. Este genio del maquillaje fue beisbolista amateur y en 1915 fue contratado para trabajar con distintos equipos para las producciones de los estudios. En los años veinte realizo varios trabajos relacionados con el mundo del cine, fue: manager de un cine, doble de riesgo, actor, hasta incluso asistente de director y se termino especializando en el maquillaje artistico. En 1926, para la pelicula: The Monkey Talks, dirigida por Raoul Walsh ( 11 de marzo de 1887 - 31 de diciembre de 1980 ), Pierce creo el maquillaje para el actor Jacques Lernier, quien interpretaba a un simio con la habilidad de comunicarse. En 1928 se encargo del maquillaje del film: The Man Who Laughs, 1928, dirigida por Paul Leni ( 8 de julio de 1885 - 2 de septiembre de 1929 ), lo que a continuacion siguio en la vida de Pierce, fue un contrato por parte de la Universal. Con dicho contrato este genio del maquillaje dio vida a nuestros queridos monstruos de la productora: Dracula, Frankentein, el hombre lobo. Para Dracula, Pierce creo un color de pintura especial pero Lugosi insistio en aplicarse su propio maquillaje él mismo. Durante la epoca en que Pierce trabajo para el estudio, la creacion mas significativa fue la de Frankenstein. En un principio se lo habia elegido a Lugosi para que interpretase al monstruo. El primer diseño del monstruo era similar al de la pelicula alemana El Golem, 1920, dirigida por Carl Boese y Paul Wegener. Fue entoces que el film Frankenstein cambio de director y entro en escena James Whale, con lo cual el diseño de la criatura cambio totalmente, tornandose mas terrorifico. A pesar de que Pierce tenia fama de ser alguien dificil, con Karloff se llevaba bien; sin embargo, trabajar con Lon Chaney hijo, fue otra historia, ya que entre ellos habia fricciones.
Jack Pierce fue un innovador y la influencia para muchos, entre ellos: Rick Baker ( 8 de diciembre de 1950 ) y Tom Savini ( 3 de noviembre de 1946 ).

I am greatful For your comment in its answer.In this entry I can see higher performance,however I must put things that was left out of the inkwell.Pierce was stuntman,even assistant director.Which would eventually lead to his mastery of in the field of makeup.Later I will go on telling you more things.

I don't like being called a Blogs critic,I just have another vision in which I can see the flaws of others and so give them a hand in some details.I hope you do not close me the doors as others colleagues have done.It would be better to use another color for better visualization features for date and year.The text is amusing but you should put more information.I feel that in that small text you wanted to tell everything in short not to leave out the photos.Best fewer photos and more text.There is so much to mention of this big makeup artist how it was Jack Pierce.Certainly it is your blog and not mine.
Mr. Stuart, every time I do an entry I am triying to be as much accurate as I can be, and let me tell you one more thing, before you wrote anything in your first commentary about this new entry about Mr. Jack Pierce, I wrote first that Mr Jack Pierce was a stuntman, an assistant director and so on, so perhaps nothing was leave out of the inkwell, as you wrote it, but in the case that was the point, well, much better, I will get more new info for a new future entry to share; it is okay you get another vision, I appreciate your concern about the blog, but as I told you before the entries are written like that, everytime I do this, I try to do it well, without any mistakes, flaws, but in the case I will do, I`m sorry, I`m a human being and human beings commit mistakes, so, to finish this in a friendly way, let me do my entries in peace, seat in a comfortable chair and read the blog, and remember this is my blog and not yours.

Sí que parece que Pierce tenía un carácter difícil. En sus memorias, Elsa Lanchester -"La novia de Frankenstein"- lo definió como "sumamente desagradable". Pero de lo que no hay duda es que era un genio. La Universal no fue la misma sin él. Despedido por ser "demasiado artesanal" o sea, lento y caro. Eran otros tiempos.

Que grandes estos artistas y que poco reconocidos. Si no fuera por él tal vez el monstruo de Frankenstein no hubiera sido el icono que es hoy. Precisamente hace poco vi las tres primeras películas con Karloff y me encantaron.
