Horror Cosmigogon

Puedo dar por seguro que con esta pelicula John Carpenter ( 16 de enero de 1948, Carthage, Nueva York, Estados Unidos ), le metio miedo a mas de uno, y, aun hoy día, sigue haciendolo; como siempre Carpenter sabe jugar con el miedo de las personas, y aqui mas que nunca, recreando de maravillas todo lo referente a otro gran maestro del miedo: Lovecraft. Con una soltura impecable, en este, su tercer film, de lo que él ha dado en llamar su Trilogia Apocaliptica, los otros dos titulos anteriores son: La Cosa ( The Thing, 1982 ) y Principe de las Tinieblas ( prince of Darkness, 1987 ), Carpenter nos introduce de lo normal en lo anormal, en lo que no puede ser, pero es, lo cotidiano, poco a poco, se va difuminando, hasta el punto de no distinguir contorno alguno, ¿ de miedo , no ? Todo empieza, realmente, ¿ còmo empieza todo ?, o, acaso, ¿ no habia empezado ya ?, cuando John Trent es conducido a un loquero, lo que pasa es que no es facil la vida del pobre Trent, sobre todo si quiere salvar a este mundo y vio ciertas cosas que no tendria que haber visto, pero ahora el daño esta hecho. El asunto es que cuando desaparece un tal Sutter Cane, un escritor super ventas, es cuando la editorial recurre al detective Trent, para dar con el paradero de este escritor. Trent, debera ir hasta un lugar llamado Hobb´s End, y, dicho sea de paso, la palabra Hobb es una antigua palabra para referirse al diablo, por supuesto que nuestro heroe no lo sabe y es asi que entrara a un mundo pesadillesco para terminar siendo él, el mensajero de un escrito de proporciones apocalipticas. ¿ Podra Trent escaparse y evitar llevar a cabo su aciago destino ? Para saberlo solo resta atreverse a ser el espectador de una historia salida de la suma de dos genios: Lovecraft - Carpenter. Por cierto, y continuando con el nombre del lugar al que tiene que ir Trent en su busqueda, dicho pueblo se llama asi por la estacion de subte de la pelicula: Quatermass and The Pit ( 1967 ), una pequeña broma del director.

Otro de los aciertos de esta pelicula fueron sus efectos especiales, muy bien realizados y bastante creibles, como la escena en que la actriz Julie Carmen gira completamente la cabeza, se realizo usando una contorsionista, dicho doble usó una mascara prostetica para aparentar el rostro de la actriz. Como la doble no podía ver, el director se encargo de guiarla mediante el sonido; las llaves que se traga la actriz fueron hechas de pasta. Otro de los efectos utilizados para este film, fue en la escena en que Sutter Cane deja entrar a los monstruos en nuestro mundo, dicha parte fue una combinacion de hombres en traje, animatronics y una ¨ pared ¨ de gran tamaño de dichos monstruos; se necesito mas de treinta personas para operar a los monstruos.

Con todo esto y algunas cosas mas, es que esta es una gran pelicula para no dejar pasar si es que uno quiere sentir un buen susto.

BATIFINAL

Gracias a la fertil imaginacion de Bob Kane ( New York, New York, 24 de octubre de 1915 Estados Unidos - Los Angeles, California, Estados Unidos, 3 de noviembre de 1998 ) y Bill Finger ( 8 de febrero de 1914 - 24 de enero de 1974 ), es que vino a este mundo el personaje de Batman; el Hombre Murcielago aparecio por primera vez en el numero 27 de Detective Comics en la historia titulada El Extraño Caso del Sindicato Químico, dada su fama, el personaje trascendio las fronteras del comic para trasladarse tanto al cine como a la pantalla chica; a principios del siglo XX tuvo seriales, y ya bien entrados los años sesenta una serie de television que llevaria al personaje a ponerse a la altura de un icono pop, llegados los noventa y, sin haber perdido nada de su encanto o fama, es que este personaje volveria al ambito cinematografico de la mano del director Tim Burton ( Burbank, California, Estados Unidos, 25 de agosto de 1958 ), las obras cinematograficas que siguieron a las de Burton, dirigidas por Joel Schumacher ( 29 de agosto de 1939 ), es mejor no hablar, o al menos no por ahora, luego le seguiria Batman Begins del director Christopher Nolan, la cual estaba a la altura en oscuridad con las de Burton; en medio de los trabajos de Burton, Schumacher y Nolan, existe una obrita que sirvio para que el Caballero Oscuro generase dentro de sus admiradores una mayor aceptación de la que ya habia, todo esto gracias a alguien que a los 17 años trabajo como asistente en los estudios del capo Stan Wiston en obras como "Leviathan", 1989, dirigida por George P. Cosmatos y "Alien Nation"; tambien trabajo junto a Rob Bottin, Steve Johnson y Rick Baker , por supuesto que me estoy refiriendo nada mas y nada menos que a : Sandy Collora. Con respecto a Batman: Dead End, Collora logra la estetica necesaria para traspolar un comic en un film, y mas si ese film tiene estetica de policial negro, como lo tiene este corto en particular, manejando muy bien la psicologia de los personajes, generando una atmosfera gris, sombria, llena de sombras, de las cuales, en cualquier momento podria salir algo, vaya a saber con qué fines; lo que es mas importante, se toma en serio la tarea de filmar, algo que debe hacerse siempre, agregando dramatismo, a la vez que accion, no solo eso, el elenco, un desconocido y el otro no tanto, personifican a Batman, interpretado por Clark Bartram y Andrew Koenig en el papel del Joker, ambos actores estan muy bien en sus roles. Sobre este corto en particular Sandy Collora dice lo siguiente:¨Me la pase dirigiendo comerciales y video clips, por años trate de hacer una películas sin mucha suerte. En Hollywood, se necesita hacer algo “Caliente” y seguro que te tendrán en cuenta, entonces como soy un apasionado Batfan decidí hacer mi propia versión de Batman para demostrarle a los estudios de lo que soy capaz. Solo hice este film para demostrar mis habilidades, por otro lado a mi me encantaron los libros de Batman vs Predator y también me gusto Batman/Aliens, tal vez algunos fans nieguen estas historias, pero para ser honesto cuando dimos la película en la convención ¡se volvieron todos locos!, solo tuvimos reacciones positivas, la gente se paraba en las sillas cuando el Alien se alzaba detrás de Batman. Hubo alguna historia con DC, pero pude conversar con algunos creativos que trabajan allí y habían quedados encantados y asombrados, me dijeron que era lo mejor que había pasado con Batman en mucho tiempo, obviamente no puedo revelar sus nombres, pero Alex Ross dijo públicamente en la convención que era la mejor representación de Batman en un film y lo paso en su propio stand. El es el artista mas popular del momento y creo que conoce algo del personaje, desafortunadamente DC tiende a ignorar estos comentarios, seguramente muy pronto voy a recibir algo de su departamento legal, pero no estoy vendiéndolo o mostrándolo por dinero, solo quiero que la gente lo vea, no estoy trasgrediendo ni denigrando sus propiedades. Miren a la gente de LucasFilm, ellos permiten los "Fans-Films" y se divierten mucho con eso, tal vez las otras compañías deberían seguir su ejemplo.
Al final costo un poquito mas de U$S 30.000 y lo filmamos en 4 dias con Vince Toto, con un pequeño equipo de luces, con un mínimo de equipamento y un crew muy reducido. En realidad había mucha gente pero el 75% eran curiosos sacando fotos y mirando que ocurría, fue muy duro hacerlo pero la dedicación de cada uno de los que estuvimos envueltos lo convirtió en algo muy especial, estoy muy orgulloso de todos.
Para ser honesto creo que ningún film puede permanecer tan alto mucho mas tiempo que el suceso que causa, mucha gente a querido verlo y escuche cosas fabulosas sobre el, también los medios se hicieron eco, fue muy emocionante y también inesperado. Lamentablemente la mayoría lo vio en la pantallita de su computadora y no proyectado, verlo en un cine, con la gente gritando a tu alrededor te da otra perspectiva de la película, tal vez esperaban que fuera mas largo, quien sabe. Cuando haces este tipo de películas, en especial con un personaje como Batman, siempre vas tener gente que le guste mucho y otros a los que no les va a gustar nada. Tarantino estuvo en la convención, pude charlar con el , y me dijo que nunca haría una película con un personaje de comics por que no hay manera posible de conformar a los fans ¡y es verdad! , recuerdo un reportaje que le hicieron a Bill Cosby donde le preguntaban ¿Cual es la clave del éxito en Hollywood? y el respondió "No lo se, pero se cual es el del fracaso ¡tratar de conformar a todos!", yo estoy muy orgulloso de mi film, pero ya es tiempo de emprender otro proyecto. ¨

El Joker se escapa una vez mas del psiquiatrico de Arkham y comienza a sembrar el terror y la muerte por toda ciudad Gotica, solamente hay alguien que podra dar con la mete maestra del crimen y detenerlo, y ese no es otro mas que Batman. ¿ Podra el Hombre Murcielago capturar al Joker ? ¿ En medio de esta mision surgiran peligros mayores ? Averigüenlo viendo a continuacion esta batiaventura.

Deseos, deseos... deseos para vos

Los Djinns tienen ese no sè que, viste, por años nos hicieron creer que estas criaturitas eran angelicales como los de ciertos programas televisivos como: Mi Bella Genio, pero no, son mas malos que la peste, llenos de planes oscuros, como los que presenta esta pelicula, y el encargado de hacernos entrar a esta fiesta de lo macabro y lo terrorifico no es otro mas que el señor: Robert Kurtzman ( Crestline, Ohio, Estados Unidos, 25 de noviembre de 1964 ), quien sobre terror sabe bastante y si no basta con echarle un vistazo a su amplio curriculum vitae dentro del genero fantastico:

El prologo de la pelicula nos muestra de manera espectacular el poder de un Djinn, seres nacidos en tiempos preteritos, con el fin de servir mediante sus poderes magicos a aquellos que piden por sus servicios, en este caso, a un rey persa , y quien le saque las papas del fuego no ha de ser otro mas que Zoroastro, encerrando a tan temible ser dentro de una gema; muchos siglos despues sera una mujer quien se encargue de despertar a este temible ser y recomenzar asi la pesadilla.

La musica la pone Harry Manfredini ( Chicago, Illinois, Estados Unidos, 25 de agosto de 1943 ), el trabajo de este compositor es bastante bueno, poniendole garra en varias escenas, como en la de la apertura, realizando asi una digna banda de sonido; los proximos son algunos de los trabajos de este autor:

Por el lado del director, solo resta decir que creo la clase de producto entretenido y digno, que ya no es tan comun de ver, y que hoy en dia algunos directores no saben, o no quieren hacerlo; en cuanto a los actores, hay uno que se lleva el premio: Andrew Divoff ( San Tome, Venezuela, 2 de julio de 1955 ), el personaje que compone esta magistral: un verdadero demonio, solo le falta la pluma y el papel.

El Jinete sin Cabeza

Alla lejos y hace tiempo, hubo un hombre que se llamo Washington Irving, quien, entre muchas cosas que escribio, creo una historia escalofriante sobre un maestro y un jinete sin cabeza, tal historia se llamo:
¨ La Leyenda de Sleepy Hollow ¨, tal fue su exito, que no paso desapercibido para Hollywood y fue asi, que varias fueron las peliculas que se hicieron sobre dicha obra literaria, pero hay una para esta epoca en donde salen las brujas que viene de perillas, traida de la mano de la empresa del raton, llega la historia sobre Ichabod Crane, un maestro de escuela, que al llegar a un pueblo, se enamora de la joven hija de un hacendado, lo cual le traera serios problemas, ya que la muchacha tiene a varios pretendientes a mal traer, sobre todo a uno, que hara todo lo posible por ganarsela y evitar que Ichabod prospere en la empresa del amor, es por eso que en la noche de Halloween, el padre de la joven invita a todo el pueblo a una fiesta en su hogar, y sera alli donde Ichabod conozca la terrible historia del jinete sin cabeza, ademas de evitar, cuando de regreso a su casa, que el temible descabezado no se quede con la suya. Una bella historia de terror magistralmente pasada al dibujo animado, conteniendo todos los elementos para llegar a ser el dia de hoy un clasico: geniales pasos de comedia, unos momentos finales realmente tenebrosos, la increible voz del musico Bing Crosby en la piel de Ichabod Crane, a la vez que haciendo la tarea del narrador, y por si esto fuera poco, cantando el tema musical ¨Katrina ¨, sobre, valga la redundancia, el personaje femenino que vuelve locos a todos los hombres del pueblo. Es por esto que para estas escalofriantes fechas nada mejor que ver un clasico de la animacion como La Leyenda de Sleepy Hollow del año 1949. Por favor, cuando regresen a sus casas, traten de cruzar el puente antes de toparse con el terrible jinete.

I`M a Rocket Man

A la hora de hacer peliculas entretenidas,
Joe Johnston ( Fort Worth, Texas, Estados Unidos, 13 de mayo de 1950 ), es una persona que la tiene clara, o al menos lo intenta; por su experto ojo pasaron los siguientes films:

Querida, Encogi a los Niños ( Honey, I Shrunk the Kids, 1989 ); Jumanji, 1995; Parque Jurasico III ( Jurassic Park III, 2001 ), y esta pelicula no fue la excepción, desde que empieza hasta que termina tiene todos los condimentos necesarios para que el espectador se sienta a gusto: buenas dosis de acción, otras tantas buenas dosis de aventura, intriga, humor, bastante humor, y romance, ademas de tener el regusto de los viejos seriales, por que a no olvidarse de que The Rocketeer nacio primero como un comic y luego siguio como un serial, y eso, la verdad, que se nota y hace que la pelicula sea maravillosa. Con buen ojo y mano habilidosa para filmar, Johnston logra que 108 minutos se pasen volando y que uno quiera seguir viendo mas.

Un joven piloto obtiene una mochila cohete que le permitira ser un heroe enmascarado y luchar contra las terribles fuerzas nazis.

Johnston tiene a su cargo un elenco del que supo sacarle el mejor partido: un magistral Timothy Dalton ( Cohvyn Bay, Wales, Reino Unido, 21 de marzo de 1944 ), quien, como siempre y demostrando que no solo de cierto agente secreto se vive, y le den el papel que le den, actua a las mil maravillas, aqui se le puede ver interpretando a un actor de cine de los años treinta bien egocentrico, a Dalton se le puede ver en las siguientes peliculas: El Leon de Invierno ( The Lion in Winter, 1968, dirigida por Anthony Harvey; Cromwell, 1970, dirigida por Ken Hughes; Flash Gordon, 1980, dirigida por Mike Hodges; The Doctor and the Devils, 1985, dirigida por Fredie Francis; Looney Tunes: Back in Action, 2003, dirigida por Joe Dante; y recientemente se lo puede ver en la grandiosa comedia policial Hot Fuzz, 2007, dirigida por Edgar Wright, en la que demuestra que aún esta vigente; por otro lado la tenemos a la siempre bella Jennifer Connelly ( Catskill Mountains, Nueva York, 12 de diciembre de 1970) haciendo en esta oportunidad el papel de la amada del heroe, que necesita que la salven en los momentos dificiles, su interpretacion es bastante buena, demostrando que es una actriz versatil, a Jennifer Connelly se la puede ver en las siguientes peliculas: Phenomena, 1985, dirigida por Dario Argento, Dark City, 1998, dirigida por Alex Proyas, Requiem para un Sueño ( Requiem for a Dream, 2000 ) dirigida por Darren Aronofsky, Pollock, 2000, dirigida por Ed Harris, Una Mente Brillante ( A Beautiful Mind, 2001 ) dirigida por Ron Howard, Hulk, 2003, dirigida por Ang Lee, Dark Water ( 2005 ) dirigida por Walter Salles ; por otro lado se encuentra un actor de reparto que sabe hacer lo suyo mas que bien: Jon Polito ( Philadelphia, Pennsylvania, Estados Unidos, 29 de diciembre de 1950 ), a este actor se le puede ver en infinidad de peliculas, como por ejemplo:

El Hombrecito del Sombrero Gris

Ahora, despues de los cortos animados, toca hablar de una pelicula a la que ya se le puede denominar de clasico, por que, en definitiva lo es: Cronos, dirigida por el gran Guillermo del Toro ( Guadalajara, Jalisco, Mexico, 9 de octubre de 1964 ); aqui, don Guillermo nos mostrara algo que rara vez se ve:
a Federico Luppi ( Ramallo, Buenos Aires, Argentina, 23 de febrero de 1936 )tirado en el suelo de un baño lamiendo sangre, entre otras cosas. Para esta pelicula, su director tuvo que hipotecar su casa y pelear a capa y espada para que este proyecto, tan cercano a su corazon, pudiera salir. Al final, luego de tanto sufrimiento, valio la pena. Al respecto esto es lo que dice el propio Del Toro:
¨ cualquier film que se haga es dificil. El primero no es la excepcion. Fue una epoca de bajas y altas: estaba tratando de realizar un proyecto que ya tenia ocho años, imposible de financiar, aposte a todo lo que tenia, inclusive mi casa. Hubo mucha presion, especialmente por parte del mundo del arte mexicano que miraba a este proyecto con desdeño como si fuera una ¨ pelicula de vampiros de clase - B ¨ La realizacion del libreto fue mucho mejor que la pelicula, creo, y se hubieran podido hacer muchas mas cosas de forma diferente. Pero como cada pelicula es un retrato del momento en que se las hace; Cronos para mi aun tiene un monton de cualidades que hace que sea muy querida para mi. Quizas no sea una pelicula perfecta, pero si una que fue hecha con mucho amor ¨.
Cronos, la opera prima que le abrio las puertas de Hollywood a su realizador , es una bella y oscura fantasia, muy bien realizada, donde todas sus piezas se unen para formar un gran esquema sobre la vampirizacion y la union familiar. Guillermo del Toro nos muestra el tema del vampiro desde una optica nueva, fresca, distinta, recreandolo brillante y encantadoramente, y mientras el film va transcurriendo, es como si se estuviese leyendo algun buen cuento sobre vampiros. Aqui no nos encontramos con la tipica criatura de colmillos largos y filosos; la victima cae en las garras de un curioso aparatito creado en el 1500, por un alquimista, con el proposito de dar vida eterna a su usuario, pero con un costo muy alto.
Repleta de muy buenas escenas, con un comienzo magistral: la creacion del diabolico aparatejo, seguido a eso, sin respiro, pasamos a la época actual, donde rapidamente se nos presenta la situacion, consigue asi Guillermo del Toro atrapar al espectador sin necesidad de sustos falsos, otros seran tambien los factores que consigan hacer de esta, una gran obra para el cultor del genero, y para aquel que no lo es; la aportación actoral por parte de Federico Luppi, quien en todo momento se destaca y hace de su Jesus Gris alguien creible, pasando por Ron Perlman (Nueva York, Estados Unidos, 13 de abril de 1950 ), quien tuvo que donar parte de su jugoso sueldo, pero que al final valio la pena, demostrando, una vez mas, que es un gran actor; luego viene el aporte musical por parte del compositor Javier Alvarez; en cuanto a los efectos especiales y aparatos mecanicos, corrieron a cargo de la propia empresa de Guillermo del Toro: Necropia. Con esta pelicula, es que Del Toro ha demostrado, ademas de lo ya realizado, lo mucho que quiere y ama al cine fantastico y no como algunos que lo usan como lanzadera y luego mirán a otro lado.

Cortitos Animados de Hoy y de Siempre II

En esta oportunidad, y viendo lo mucho que gustan las animaciones, pongo para el deguste visual de todos unas pocas mas, algunas de ellas estan realizadas por Javier Tedin, este joven dibujante argentino estuvo trabajando en la pelicula El Arca, mientras otras, son de origen frances, como el graciosimo corto Burning Safari o Pyrats, o la simpatica y triste The Piano, entre otras, los dejo con ellas:

Why Man Creates

Nunca pisaron suelo argentino, pero hace cosa de algunos años lo hicieron en sentido figurado, cuando se reestreno en los cines Anochecer de un Dìa Agitado ( A Hard Day`s Night, 1964 ), asi es, me refiero a The Beatles, el grupo que cambio al Rock & Roll. Richard Lester ( Philadelphia, Pennsylvania, Estados Unidos, 19 de enero de 1932 ) en plena beatlemania se encargo de dirigir a los fabulosos cuatro, en una comedia repleta de divertidisimos momentos, con dialogos de lo mas inteligentes, sacando de los cuatro de Liverpool unas actuaciones bastante buenas y demostrando asi el por qué de tanto éxito.

La pelicula, en pleno auge de la beatlemania, muestra un dia comun en la vida de John, Paul, George y Ringo, o sea de los Beatles.

Lester, que años despues dirigiria peliculas como Robin and Marian ( 1976 ), Superman II ( 1980 ), muestra aqui que tiene mano para la comedia, y que los actores principales salen adelante con su gran
carisma.
Como curiosidad, la frase que se menciona durante varias veces en la pelicula de que el abuelo de Paul es ¨un viejito limpito ¨, es una referencia al actor Wilfrid Brambell que interpreto a un hombre sucio en Steptoe and Son del año 1962, ya que alli se repetia varias veces la frase: ¨ Viejo Sucio ¨.

Kolchak ( The Night Stalker, 1972 ) dirigida por John Llewellyn Moxey

1972 fue el año de Dracula A.D. 1972 , dirigida por Alan Gibson, La Casa de las muertas vivientes (Tomba aperta... una bara vuota, Una), dirigida por Alfonso Balcázar, Chanoc contra el tigre y el vampiro, dirigida por Gilberto Martínez Solares, asi como tambien fue el año que vió nacer al precursor de Los Expedientes Secretos X ( The X-Files ), o sea, el mitico y siempre querido Carl Kolchak. Todo empezo cuando Jeff Rice escribio una novela titulada: The Kolchak Tapes; la historia gira en torno a un periodista, Karel Kolchak, quién una vez supo conocer mejores tiempos, pero que ahora por denunciar a quién no debia, bueno, asi va la historia, el hecho es que la novela llegó a manos del productor televisivo Dan Curtis ( Bridgeport, Connecticut, Estados Unidos, 12 de agosto de 1927 - Brentwood, California, Estados Unidos, 27 de marzo de 2006); Richard Matheson ( Allendale, New Jersey, Estados Unidos, 20 de febrero de 1926 ) es contratado y se le propone de que adapte la obra para la pantalla chica, ya luego empieza la busqueda del elenco y es asi como Darren McGavin ( San Joaquin, California, Estados Unidos, 7 de mayo de 1922 - Los Angeles, California, Estados Unidos, 25 de febrero de 2006 ) consigue el papel de Kolchak y es él quien da la idea de como tiene que vestir el personaje, ya que mientras leia el guion original, noto que en aquél figuraba de que Kolchak vestia bermudas y camisas hawaianas, tal vestimenta no le cerraba y se decia asi mismo: ¨no viste como nadie a quien yo haya visto antes ¨; mientras leia el guion y al notar de que el personaje habia sido despedido años antes de un periodico neoyorquino, se le ocurrio lo siguiente:¨¡ Ya lo tengo! ¡ Desde entonces que no compra un traje nuevo ! ¨, asi nacio la idea de la famosa vestimenta . El 11 de enero de 1972 se emite en los Estados Unidos: The Night Stalker y su exito ya es inmediato: 54 puntos de rating, es asi que luego se realizó otro film para televisión: The Night Strangler, dirigida por Dan Curtis, tanto éxito tuvo esta segunda pelicula, que se decidio emitir una serie televisiva, a la cual se titulo: Kolchak: The Night Strangler. Tambien se pensó en realizar una tercera pelicula, la cual se iria a llamar: The Night Killers, el guion presentaba a Kolchak y a Vincenzo en Hawai, investigando el caso de unas misteriosas desapariciones de ciudadanos, que luego serian reemplazados por androides, nunca llego a ver la luz esta tercera pelicula.
En Las Vegas aparece una muchacha con dos misteriosas marcas en el cuello, la policia se en-
cuentra totalmente despistada, un sagaz periodista,
Carl Kolchak sera quién se encargue de dar con el
homicida.

La pelicula rodada en dieciocho dias, gano el premio Edgar de esa época; John Llewellyn Moxey ( Argentina, 25 de febrero de 1925 ), lleva a cabo un buen trabajo tras las camaras, dandole a la pelicula los toques justos de suspenso y accion que se necesita, como la impactante escena en que se le trata de dar caza al vampiro; por el lado del elenco, los mismos son firmes y cada uno esta bien en su papel, ni hablar del malo, interpretado por Barry Atwater ( Denver, Colorado, Estados Unidos, 16 de mayo de 1918 - Los Angeles, California, Estados Unidos, 24 de mayo de 1978 ), su papel de chupasangre es genial: serio, severo, con el comportamiento de un depredador. Llewellyn, con presteza, muestra la simpatica relación entre el periodista y su jefe, asi como con la policia o con su novia. Algunas de las siguientes peliculas fueron dirigidas por John Llewellyn Moxey: The City of the Dead, 1960; Foxhole in Cairo, 1960; Laura, 1968; The House That Would Not Die, 1970; Ghost Story, 1972; Panic in Echo Park, 1977. Solo resta una cosa por decir: ¡ a disfrutar de Kolchak !

Las Cintas de Norliss ( The Norliss Tapes, 1973 ) dirigida por Dan Curtis

Roy Thinnes ( Chicago, Illinois, Estados Unidos, 6 de abril de 1938 ) es un hombre que a la hora de meterse en lios con lo extraño y lo sobrenatural la tiene mas que clara, no solo se metio con extraterrestres cuando hizo la mitica serie de Los Invasores ( The Invaders, 43 episodios entre 1967 y 1968 ), interpretando al mitico David Vincent, un hombre cansado que intenta por todos los medios de detener una invasion extraterrestre; aqui, en Las Cintas de Norliss pasa de la ciencia ficcion al terror de la mano de una persona que sobre meter miedo sabia bastante: Dan Curtis ( Bridgeport, Connecticut, estados Unidos, 12 de agosto de 1927 - Brentwood, California,Estados Unidos, 27 de marzo de 2006 ), entre otras cosas Curtis habia dirigido cosas como veinte episodios de la mitica serie de Dark Shadows; Dracula del año 1973 con el gran Jack Palance ( Lattimer Mines, Pennsylvania Estados Unidos, 18 de febrero de 1919 - Montecito, California, Estados Unidos, 10 de noviembre de 2006 ) interpretando al conde Dracula; The Night Strangler del año 1973, con otro grande: Darren McGavin ( San Joaquin, California, 7 de mayo de 1922 - Los Angeles, California, Estados Unidos, 25 de febrero de 2006 ) interpretando al querible Carl Kolchak; El Expreso del Terror ( Express to Terror, 1979 ). Curtis sabia bien como hacer para darle miedo al espectador, poniendo las camaras en el lugar preciso, creando clima, ademas de llevar bien el suspenso.

Dan Norliss es un reportero especializado en lo sobrenatural, Las Cintas de Norliss se centra en la investigación llevada a cabo por este periodista sobre el extraño caso de un muerto que vuelve a la vida; las cintas dejadas por Norliss son el unico nucleo que unen al espectador con la historia, ya que aquél desaparecio en extrañas circunstancias.

Las Cintas de Norliss, lamentablemente fue el piloto fallido de una serie de televisión que se quedo en pelicula; junto a William F. Nolan, Curtis termino creando una buena historia que lamentablemente no engancho a la audiencia y que entre sus filas tenia a Roy Thinnes quién le ponia toda la garra al personaje, o a Angie Dickinson ( Kulm, Dakota del Norte, Estados Unidos, 30 de septiembre de 1931 ), quién, dentro de esta historia era la encargada de poner rostro de preocupacion y miedo, la actriz, entre otras cosas, trabajo en: The Return of Jack Slade, 1955, dirigida por Harold D. Schuster; Shoot-Out at Medicine Bend, 1957, dirigida por Richard L. Bare; Cry Terror!, 1958, dirigida por Andrew L. Stone; A Fever in the Blood, 1961, dirigida por Vincent Sherman; Death Hunt, 1981, dirigida por Peter R. Hunt; Duets, 2000, dirigida por Bruce Paltrow.

El encargado de meter miedo en esta función era Nick Dimitri, haciendo el papel de James Raymond Cort, el muerto que vuelve a la vida; Dimitri aparte de haber servido para la U.S. Navy, hablar español y griego, tambien fue el doble de Sean Connery y William Smith.

Ahora bien, en esta pelicula, el encargado de hacer funcionar el grabador para escuchar las cintas era el actor Don Porter ( Miami, Oklahoma, Estados Unidos, 24 de septiembre de 1912 - Beverly Hills, Los Angeles, California, Estados Unidos, 11 de febrero de 1997 ); a Porter se le puede ver en los siguientes trabajos:
