En medio de Mesa, un lugar remoto de Mexico, están sucediendo cosas extrañas, muy extrañas, y tras ellas se encuentra el enigmatico Doctor Aranya. Gracias al relato de unas pobres victimas es que sabremos quye ha sucedido alli en Mesa.

Al film lo comenzo a rodar Herbert Tevos, llamandolo por el nombre de Lost Women of Zarpa, debido a una serie de factores desconocidos, ocurrio que los fondos se acababan, y ni el elenco, ni los productores pudieron dar con Tevos, fue asi que se detuvo la filmacion y se la mando al olvido, hasta que algunos años despues Ron Ormond ( Baldwin, Louisiana, Estados Unidos, 29 de agosto de 1910 - Nashville, Tennessee, Estados Unidos, 11 de mayo de 1981) compro la pelicula, rodo nuevo metraje y la estreno bajo el nuevo nombre de ¨ Mesa of Lost Women ¨. La pelicula plagada de personajes extraños decae cercano el final y contiene un narrador algo molesto si se quiere, pero sacando estos factores la pelicula es mas que buena.

La Plaga de los Zombies ( The Plague of Zombies, 1966 ) dirigida por John Gilling

¨Por supuesto que para trabajar en un film de estas características, no es necesario creer en zombies, simplemente uno se dice: ¨hay que hacerlo y punto ¨, y se lo debe tomar en serio ¨. André Morell ( Londres, Inglaterra, 20 de agosto de 1909, Londres, 28 de noviembre de 1978 ). Esta frase inteligente pertenece a un actor que ha estado vinculado a la productora Hammer en varios de sus films tales como:
She, 1965, dirigida por Robert Day;The Mummy´s Shroud, 1967, dirigida por John Gilling;The Vengeance of She,1968, dirigida por Cliff Owen. Aqui se puede volver a ver a Morell en una pelicula que logra sumir al espectador en el suspenso, en el misterio y en el mas profundo terror, todo esto gracias a la experta mano del director John Gilling ( Londres, Inglaterra, 29 de mayo de 1912 - Madrid, España, 22 de noviembre de 1984 ), quién dirigió películas tales como: The Challenge, 1948; The Quiet Woman, 1951;The Frightened Man, 1952; Double Exposure, 1954; The Gamma People, 1956; The Flesh and the Fiends, 1960; Shadow of the Cat, 1961; The Night Caller, 1965; The Reptile, 1966; The Mummy`s Shroud, 1967.

En un pueblo ingles están sucediendo extrañas muertes sin causa aparente y el medico no puede encontrar la cura, es por eso que recurre, como última alternativa a su mentor, quién vendrá a darle una mano, y así sera como ambos se llevaran una desagradable sorpresa.

Como siempre, el nombre de la productora Hammer es sinónimo de excelencia en materia de cine fantástico, y esta película no es la excepción; Gilling logra darle al film un aire de extrañeza, irrealidad, donde todo es sugerido y nada es mostrado, salvo al final, dejando entrever la sensación en el espectador, por momentos, de que el pueblo esta algo enfermo y que necesita de una cura lo mas pronto posible, lastima que dicha cura no llega, y el doctor no puede encontrarla y se siente mal al respecto, como lo demuestra
muy bien la escena de la conversación entre el pueblerino y el doctor; sin embargo, aparte de esa escena, La Plaga de los Zombies contiene otros momentos igual de buenos, la escena pesadillesca de los muertos levantandose de sus tumbas ha sido muchas veces imitada, pero nunca mejorada o sobrepasada. Por primera vez en una pelicula, los zombies realmente parecen cadaveres podridos que se leventan de la tierra; Roy Ashton, el artista detras de los efectos especiales de la Hammer, diseño el aspecto de las quince criaturas, pintando el rostro de los extras con pintura de latex gris y rociandola luego con un fino polvo verde para resaltar el aspecto demacrado y mortuorio; otros momentos para nombrar son, por ejemplo, la llegada al pueblo de Sir James Forbes, interpretado por André Morell, y su hija Sylvia Forbes, interpretada por la actriz Diana Clare ( Londres, Inglaterra, 1938 ), en dicha escena, lo que parece ser una caceria de la zorra, termina convirtiendose en un verdadero desastre, cuando los cazadores entusiasmados en dar caza al animal, pasan al lado de unos deudos, a los cuales les tiran el ataud al suelo, quedando el muerto fuera del mismo por culpa de uno de los cazadores, y para colmo no dan disculpas a las victimas de tal atropello.

Por el lado de la musica, la cual, por cierto, es muy buena, James Bernard ( India, 20 de septiembre de 1925 - Londres, Inglaterra, 12 de julio de 2001 ), se encargo de escribir la partitura, combinando ritmos caribeños en conjunto con unos tenebrosos violines. Volviendo al director John Gilling, mientras este realizaba esta pelicula, aprovecho y filmo en tandem El Reptile ( The Reptile, 1966 ), usando el mismo equipo de producción y los mismos decorados.

La Historia sin Fin ( The NeverEnding Story, 1984 ) dirigida por Wolfgang Petersen

De la imaginaciòn febril del escritor alemàn: Michael Ende, es que saliò La Historia sin Fin, y luego gracias al director: Wolfgang Petersen es que llego a la gran pantalla este bonito cuento de hadas, al dia de hoy sigue siendo una pelicula que se mantiene bien en lo alto; tanto Petersen como su equipo de tecnicos supieron, de manera inteligente, lograr hacer interactuar de forma coherente la parte actoral con lo que es maqueteria, cosa que a veces no se logra, pero que aqui salio de maravillas, ademàs, cada uno de los niños actores esta bien en su papel. A pesar de que a Michael Ende no le gusto como Petersen plasmo su obra al celuloide, la misma guarda a la perfecciòn el encanto y la frescura de la primera parte del relato, ya que no hay que olvidarse de que la novela consta de dos partes: la primera, que esta situada entre nuestro mundo y el de Fantasia, y que gracias a la lectura que realiza Sebastian de La Historia sin Fin, es que ambos mundos se interconectan entre si, sin darse cuenta siquiera el uno del otro de su existencia; ya la segunda parte entronca directamente con el mundo de Fantasia y las aventuras que alli vive Sebastian. Petersen en ningùn momento deja que la pelicula decaiga, otorgandole momentos realmente bellisimos, asi como tambien de gran intensidad dramatica o de comedia.

En 1984, Sebastian pierde a su madre, y, a su vez, es el año en que conocera lo que es meterse dentro de un buen libro, y esto nunca mejor dicho o escrito, ya que junto con Atreyu vivira las mas increibles y peligrosas aventuras para ir en busca de aquèl que debera salvar a la emperatriz de Fantasia.















La pelicula fue filmada parcialmente en Alemania, durante el verano aleman de 1983, segùn parece, uno de los mas calurosos en 25 años. Siguiendo con las curiosidades, Noah Hathaway, el actor que interpreta a Atreyu, cuando se encontraba filmando la escena del encuentro con el Gmork, estuvo a punto de perder un ojo, una de las zarpas gigantes le dio de lleno en el rostro, ademas, el actor terminò lanzado por los aires y sin aire por que la bestia robotica se le cayo encima, es por estas razones que en la escena con el mosntruo, solo se realizo en una toma. Pero estos no fueron los unicos padecimientos del actor, no, sufrio unos pocos mas, mientras entrenaba con su caballo, la simpatica bestia lo lanzo por los aires, y, por si fuera poco, paso por arriba de èl; mas aqui no terminan las dulces penurias de Noah, a aquèl, mientras se encontraba en plena filmacion de la escena del pantano de la tristeza, se le quedo atorada la pierna en el elevador, con lo cual termino quedando sumergido bajo el agua, para cuando lograron sacarlo ya se encontraba desmayado. Al final de la pelicula, el nombre que Sebastian grita es: ¨ Moonchild ¨. Como ultima curiosidad, el verdadero Auryn se encuentra expuesto en la oficina de Steven Spielberg.
