Vamo´a robar mi amor...

En el ´62 las hermanas Angela y Lucianna Giussani trajeron a este mundo el comic de: Diabolik; tal fue el exito de este singular personaje, que para el año ´66 al productor Antonio Cervi le entraron ganas de producir una pelicula del famoso personaje del fumetto italiano, para tal empresa fue que contrato al director Seth Holt, por el lado del elenco iba a estar Jean Sorel encarnando a Diabolik, Elsa martinelli se iba a encargar de dar vida a Eva Kant y Marilú Toló daria vida a la malvada, el rodaje tendria lugar en: New York, Los Angeles, Mexico, Roma y Malaga. Lastima que todo quedo en la nada; fue entonces cuando alla lejos y hace tiempo por el año ´67, aparecio el productor Dino De Laurentiis y contrato al gran director Mario Bava para que hiciera cobrar vida en la pantalla al audaz ladron; casi tres millones de dolares fue la cantidad de dinero que iba a tener a su disposición Bava para realizar el film, ya que DeLaurentis habia previsto gastar mucho dinero en efectos especiales y decorados a gran escala; Bava prefirio no permitirse lujos de ninguna clase , con lo cual, rodo la pelicula con solo ¡ 400.000 dolares ! " Nunca lograba encontrar los paisajes que deseaba, y resolvi el problema colocando un panel de cristal al que habia pegado casas recortadas en cartón delante de la camara ", dijo Bava explicando sus astutos metodos de trabajo.

Diabolik es alguien que a la hora de volver loco a su gobierno y a la policia sabe como hacerlo, y que mejor manera que robarle cuantiosas sumas. Él es el top del top a la hora de realizar todo tipo de crimenes; pero no se encuentra solo, a su lado esta su bella novia y ayudante: Eva. El film comienza con la policia haciendo los preparativos finales de un importante cargamento de dinero, lastima que tras tanto esfuerzo, vaya a caer en las manos de... si, Diabolik, quien se las ingenia para sacarles el dinero a los policias. En lo que sigue del film, el ladron enmascarado no solo se las tendra que ver con los amigoas del orden, sino tambien con unos mafiosos. El final simplemente: ¡ ALUCINANTE !

El director Mario Bava, que en algún momento llego a decir que: ¨ Mis fantasias son siempre horribles. Por ejemplo, amo a mi hija mas que a nada en este mundo, pero cuando sueño con ella es siempre algo aterrador. ¿ Quieres saber que personaje es el que perturba mi subconsciente ? es un violinista que le toca una serenata a su amada usando los tendones de su brazo. Cada dia trabajo en mi imaginacion. Encontre una carta esta mañana de un amigo que acaba de murio, estaba sin abrir, me la escribio hace diez años. Fue como recibir la carta de un muerto. ¿ Qué hubiera hecho en mi lugar ? Yo simplemente la queme... ¨; siempre recordaria la experiencia de haber filmado Diabolik como: ¨ la peor experiencia profesional ¨ de su vida, y no era para menos, ya que aparecian problemas por todos lados: de elenco: por imposición de Dino DeLaurentiis, Mario Bava tuvo que aceptar a la actriz Catherine Deneuve, quien interpretaria el papel de Eva Kant, pero como la actriz se negaba rotundamente a ponerse como Dios la trajo a este mundo es que a los pocos dias abandono la filmación, y fue asi como la actriz Marisa Mell ocupo su lugar; en cuanto a quien encarnaria al ladron, pues no seria otro mas que el actor John Phillip Law; la pelicula se estreno el 24 de enero de 1968. En cuanto al dinero sobrante, DeLaurentiis le pidio a Mario Bava que rodara una secuela, pero aquel estaba harto de todas las interferencias del productor, con lo cual: " DeLaurentiis habia insistido en que no se debia ver ni una gota de sangre en toda la pelicula... Informe a DeLauretiis de que Diabolik estaba inmovilizado, de que sufria una incapacidad permanente... ¡ le dije que estaba muerto ! ".

Con respecto a Law, este actor nacio un 7 de septiembre de 1937, para dejar este mundo hace poquito, mas precisamente el 13 de mayo de 2008; su primera pelicula se llamo The Magnificent Yanquee, 1950, dirigida por John Sturges, luego vendrian titulos como:

Con el tiempo Diabolik se convirtio en objeto de culto, y la verdad es que meritos no le faltan: es entretenida, dinamica, tiene una banda de sonido por demas excelente; el actor que encarna al ladron de marras tiene el suficiente carisma como para afrontar todas las dificultades que se le pongan en el camino y lograr que mas de un espectador desee ser Diabolik, pero detras del actor se encuentra el director, quien fue el encargado de poner toda su habilidad para recrear todo un mundo particular y lograr asi que el espectador, aunque mas no sea un rato, olvide sus preocupaciones mundanas. Lastima que hoy por hoy no exista alguna otra aventura cinematografica de este antiheroe, a lo mejor, en algun momento se le ocurra a alguien realizar alguna nueva aventura, por el momento queda la pelicula y unas aventuras en dibujo animado del año `97.

Vidas de Cine III

En esta oportunidad, en Vidas de Cine, se podran apreciar interesantes momentos vividos por Sean Connery, Montgomery Clift, asi como tambien sobre la pelicula de Ettore Scola: Concorrenza Sleale, ¡ a disfrutar !:

Es reconocida la fama de William Hurt por su odio a Hollywood, que según muchos dicen, cada vez que viaja alli desde Nueva York para hacer una pelicula aprovecha, aunque solo tengo una día libre, para tomar un avion y regresar a la Gran Manzana.
Incluso se ha llagado a comentar de que cuando rueda cualquier escena , lleva en el bolsillo un billete de vuelta a Nueva York

para estar mas tranquilo.

El realizador italiano Ettore Scola explicaba que los decorados que empleo en su pelicula Competencia Desleal ( Concorrenza Sleale, 2001 ) fueron la inspiración para los que utilizaria poco despues Martin Scorsese en el rodaje de su monumental Gangs of New York, 2002. ¨ Si se observan detenidamente los decorados callejeros en los que tiene lugar la acción de ¨ Gangs

of New York ¨, explicaba Scola, ¨ se descubrira que son los mismos de ¨Competencia Desleal (Concorrenza Sleale, 2001 ) ¨, aunque las epocas en que se situa la acción son muy distintas. Ocurrio que Martin Scorsese vio ¨Competencia Desleal (Concorrenza Sleale, 2001 ) ¨ y me dijo que le interesaba filmar escenas de su pelicula en los mismos decorados que habiamos armado en Cinecitta. Y asi lo hizo; dejamos en pie las escenografias de nuestra pelicula, que narra los hechos de la Roma de 1938, y Scorsese le hizo algunos retoques : cambio los letreros de relojerias
y otros negocios y puso otros bares irlandeses con nombres en ingles, y alli filmo ¨Gangs of New York ¨ , que esta ambientada en la vieja Nueva York de 1865 ¨.

Para el rodaje de ¨El Tormento y el Extasis ( The Agony and the Ecstasy, 1965 ) ¨, que se centra en la relación entre Miguel Angel y el Papa Julio II durante la elaboración de los frescos de la Capilla Sixtina, la Fox erigio en los estudios De Laurentiis de Roma una replica de es

ta ultima a escala natural. A fin de conseguir el maximo realismo, el realizador Carol Reed hizo que se fotografiaran los autenticos frescos del artista renacentista y que, mediante procedimientos quimicos, se reprodujeran tambien a escala real en los techos del decorado. El proceso fue tan minucioso que incluso un estudio de los colores originales utilizados por Miguel Angel, elaborado a partir de consultas a varios expertos en la materia, a fin de que los frescos se vieran en la pelicula tal y como eran cuando fueron finalizados. Sin embargo, cuando se estreno el film no faltaron algunas voces criticas que dijeron que los colores de la Sixtina resultaban mas llamativos que los de la capilla original. Pero veinte años mas tarde cuando la Capilla Sixtina fue restaurada, se comprobo que el trabajo que habian hecho los decoradores de ¨El Tormento y el Extasis ( The Agony and the Ecstasy, 1965 ) ¨ se ajustaba completamente a la realidad historica.

Montgomery Clift arrastro hasta el final de su existencia numerosos problemas con las drogas causados, en parte, por el terrible accidente de automovil que sufrio a mediados de los años cincuenta. Una de las secuelas del mismo era un persistente dolor de espalda que el actor se trataba mediante inyecciones de codeina o, en el peor de los casos, probando él mismo y sin control medico toda clase de tranquilizantes para el dolor, con resultados desastrosos. Por ejemplo, durante el rodaje de ¨El Arbol de la Vida (Raintree County, 1957 ) ¨, el director Edward Dmytry recordaba como en cierta ocasion,viendo que Clift no se presentaba a una escena, se fue corriendo hacia su habitacion en compania de un ayudante, temiendo lo peor. ¨Como esperabamos ¨, explica Dmytry, ¨ estaba transpuesto en su cama con una collila de cigarrillo entre los dedos. El cigarrillo le habia quemado la carne hasta el hueso. ¨El realizador necesito de un lapiz para arrancarselo.

Sean Connery se jugo el cuello rodando algunas peligrosas escenas de la pelicula de Michael Crichton ¨ El Gran

Robo al Tren ( The First Great Train Robbery, 1979 ) ¨. El actor escoces accedio a rodar en persona diversas tomas en las cuales se le ve saltando de un vagon a otro en un tren en movimiento porque el equipo le habia garantizado que el tren no superaria una velocidad de 35 millas por hora. Sin embargo, a la hora de la verdad, el tren fue mucho mas rapido, pero Connery, ya metido en el baile no se echo atras y completo la escena. Mas tarde el piloto del helicoptero que filmaba desde el aire le confirmo que, efectivamente, el tren iba como minimo a 55 millas por hora.

Tren Bala con Destino al Infinito

Un tal Milton Subotsky ( New York City, New York, Estados Unidos, 27 de septiembre de 1921 - Londres Inglaterra, Reino Unido, 1 de junio de 1991 ), se unio a Max J. Rosenberg ( New York City, New York, Estados Unidos, 13 de septiembre de 1914 - Los Angeles, California, Estados Unidos, 14 de junio de 2004 ), y fue asi como ambos formaron una productora de peliculas que con el tiempo se volveria famosa: AMICUS; resulta gracios

o y hasta interesante, como es que esta productora fue confundida con la Hammer, por supuesto, no era para menos, ambas se dedicaban a lo mismo: ¡ el TERROR !, si la Hammer lo hacia muy bien, la Amicus no se le quedaba atras; las obras de esta productora contenian todo lo que una buena pelicula de terror tenia que tener para darle un buen susto al espectador: buen clima, ambientacion, actuaciones, dirección, bueno, un poco de todo y algo mas. Muchos rostros conocidos desfilaron por ambas productoras: la dupla Cushing - Lee ( juntos o por separado ), Joan Collins, Ian Hendry, Freddie Francis, Roy Ward Baker, Ingrid Pitt, todos ellos con la sana intención de meter un poco de miedo a nuestros esqueletos. Algunos mas que otros, ya se han vuelto clasicos indiscutibles con el correr del tiempo, como la pelicula de la que me propongo hablar ahora, pero antes, otros titulos Amicus:

Como se puede apreciar, la mayor parte de las peliculas de esta productora han sido dirigidas por Francis y otras tantas por Roy Ward Baker; como lo es el caso del Dr. Terror y su casa de los horrores.

Cinco personas suben a un tren en Londres con destino a Bradley, con ellos subira un sexto pasajero de nombre peculiar: Schreck; según explica aquel, su nombre significa, traducido del aleman: terror. Para romper la monotonia del viaje, Schreck abre un paquete de cartas del tarot y hace picar a sus compañeros de viaje, haciendo que aquellos le pidan les explique sobre dichas cartas. Schreck no solo hara eso por ellos, sino que ademas les mostrara a cada uno de ellos su destino, el cual estara realcionado: con un hombre lobo, plantas carnivoras, el voodoo, la mano de un muerto y vampiros. Por supuesto, ademas de los singulares destinos de cada una de estas personas, habra algo mas, pero para saberlo, los invito a que vean:

Alla por los años cuarenta hubo una serie de televisión que se llamo igual que esta pelicula: Dr. Terror´s House of Horrors, y al igual que este film, estaba el Doctor Terror contando historias; unos años antes, no muchos, se habia estrenado en cines la grandiosa: Al Morir la Noche ( Dead of Night, 1945 ) dirigda por Alberto Cavalcanti, Charles Crichton, Basil Dearden y Robert Hamer, en caso de que quieran saber sobre este gran titulo del genero fantastico, tuve el grato placer de hablar del mismo en la entrada con fecha del: 21/02/08; no solamente a Luis Buñuel le gusto Al Morir... sino que tambien a Milton Subotsky, quien consideraba que era uno de los mejores films de horror de siempre; fue asi que los dos creadores de la Amicus pusieron 105.000 dolares para que se filmara Dr. Terror´s House of Horrors. Subotsky empezo a aporrear las teclas de su maquina de escribir y para el 25 de mayo de 1964, en los Shepperton Studios, comenzo la filmación de: Dr. Terror´s House of Horrors, concluyendo el 3 de julio de 1964; el reparto estaba compuestro por:

El 23 de febrero de 1965 se estreno en los cines y se convirtio en un gran suceso; no era para menos, Fredie Francis en cada una de las historias que se muestran, lograba darle al espectador
cierta sensacion de temor gracias al clima creado, ya desde el vamos: seis desconocidos en un mismo compartimento de tren, realizando un largo viaje, con sus historias personales para brindar como unico pasatiempo; la primera historia, la del lobizon, esta bien planteada, con una mansion ominosa y un secreto misterioso aguardando salir a la luz, a continuacion un relato, que para el caso, se podria denominar de ¨ecologico¨, con una familia que descubre que en su jardin tiene unas plantas bastante peculiares, Francis le da a este segmento un giro bastante ¨cientifico ¨, se podria llegar a decir, a continuacion, paar que el ambiente no sea del todo denso, el director agrega a la tetrica mezcla una pizca de comedia con sabor a jazz, y es que aqui el personaje central, tras conseguir un buen contratato se dirige a las indias occidentales, donde se las vera, a pesar de su descreimiento, con el poder del voodoo, ya luego viene una historia interpretada por Christopher Lee y Michael Gough, donde la venganza se da la mano con el arte, Freddie Francis continua aterrando al espectador con maestria y transmite, a traves de estos dos buenos actores, el deseo de la venganza y lo que se siente al ser ridiculizado en publico, por ultimo, una simple y bien contada historia de vampiros, con un joven Donald Sutherland, de final tramposo, pero simpatico; a todos estos relatos la musica la compuso Elisabeth Lutyens (Bloomsbury, Londres, Inglaterra, 9 de julio de 1906 - Hampstead, Londres Inglaterra, 14 de abril de 1983 ), quien con su musica le otorga a cada capitulo su propio ritmo, demostrando asi que el lema usado por ella era cierto: ¨¿ Quieres un buen trabajo o lo quieres para el miercoles ? ¨.
Por el lado de las actuaciones, nos encontramos con alguien que, no por nada, lleva el titulo de gentleman de la actuacion inglesa: el gran Peter Cushing ( Kenley, Surrey, Inglaterra, 26 de mayo de 1913 - Canterbury, Kent, Inglaterra, 11 de agosto de 1994), aqui le vemos con una barba y cejas postizas, dando una vez mas una clase magistral de actuacion, siempre sera recordado por su magistral Doctor Van Helsing; en algún momento Freddie Francis dijo sobre Peter Cushing lo siguiente: ¨ Peter Cushing ademas de un amigo era un colega. La primera vez que trabaje con Peter fue cuando era operador de camara para John Huston en Moulin Rouge. Era una hombre encantador y un actor consumado. Siempre nos reuniamos en un hotel de Londres para hablar del libreto antes que se diera comienzo a la filmación. Una vez que se daba comienzo a la filmación, sabia que Peter iba a ser confiable, y siempre hacia que sus dialogos fuesen convincentes y creibles ¨. Los Piratas del Espacio ( The Ice Pirates, 1984 ) dirigida por Stewart Raffill

Stewart Raffill (Estados Unidos, 1945 ), es a quien se puede encontrar detras de peliculas como Experimento Filadelfia ( The Philadelphia Experiment, 1984 ) o Manequin 2 ( Mannequin: On the move, 1991 ), entre otras; en 1984 se embarco en un proyecto de 9.000.000 de dolares, llamado The Ice Pirates, del cual se puede llegar a decir que llega a ser una divertida Space Opera, pero que, lamentablemente, llegado a cierto punto, decae un poco para luego subir sobre el final, el cual, por cierto, resulta ser bastante alocado y hilarante. Aqui se podra enconcontrar lo siguiente: peleas en bares interestelares, peleas con espadas, explosiones, robots peleando, terribles monstruos y viajes a velocidad warp. La presencia de: Anjelica Huston, actriz a la que se puede ver en peliculas como: El Honor de los Prizzi ( Prizzi´s Honor, 1985 ) dirigida por John Huston, o, El Club de las Brujas ( The Witches, 1990 ) dirigida por Nicolas Roeg, entre muchas otras ; Ron Perlman, el gran actor detras de Hellboy, se lo puede ver en las siguientes peliculas: Blade 2, perteneciente al año 2002, dirigida por Guillermo Del Toro, El Nombre de la Rosa ( The Name of the Rose, 1986 ) dirigida por Jean-Jacques Annaud, Los Sonambulos ( The Sleepwalkers, 1992 ) dirigida por Mick Garris; con la sola presencia de estas dos estrellas, hacen de esta pelicula, un producto de categoria.
En el futuro lejano, el agua es la sustancia mas preciada. Robert Urich, actor al que podemos recordar por peliculas como esta, o series como: Las Vegas ( Vega$, 1978 - 1981 ), S.w.a.t. ( 1975 - 1976 ), interpreta aqui a uno de los piratas espaciales, que tras ser vendido a una princesa, luego es recrutado para encontrar al padre de la misma, lo que lo llevara a embarcarse en grandes y alocadas aventuras.

Tentaculos con Fibra

El monstruo del lago Ness, el Kraken, Nahuelito,viven en las profundidades del mar junto a muchas otras criaturitas de Dios; el Kraken, a diferencia de sus otros dos colegas nombrados mas arriba, siempre demostro ser un tipo de lo mas duro, y, tratando, en lo posible, de quedarse con la fama... hasta ahora, y es que al vecindario acaba de llegar un nuevo bichajo, el cual quiere disputarle la corona al Kraken, para lo cual se metera en un navio de lujo y alli tratara de demostrar quien merece tener el titulo del bicho mas fiero y maligno de los siete mares, y de algun otro mar que quede por ahi olvidado.

Despues de dirigir Las Aventuras de Huckelberry Finn ( The Adventures of Huckelberry Finn, 1993 ) y El Libro de la Selva ( The Jungle Book, 1994 ), es que a Stephen Sommers, Hollywood lo empieza a considerar. A mediados de los noventa, Sommers comienza a escribir el guion de lo que luego seria conocido como Agua Viva ( Deep Rising, 1998 ) pero que en un principio llevo como titulo tentativo: Tentacle, o sea Tentaculo. A Harrison Ford se le propuso interpretar el personaje de Finnegan, pero decidio no aceptar, con lo cual el presupuesto dejo de irse por las nubes y del bolsillo de los productores desembarcaron para este proyecto de Sommers: U$S 45.000.000; la actriz Claire Forlani, luego de filmar por tres dias se largo del proyecto por diferencias creativas con el amigo Sommers, cosas que suelen ocurrir, y fue entonces ahi que llamaron a la actriz Famke Janssen para que interprete al personaje de Trillian Jamesen, dicho sea de paso, el nombre del personaje que interpreta Famke, es sacado de uno de los personajes de la ultra conocida saga del Autoestopista de la Galaxia ( Hitch-Hicker´s Guide to the Galaxy ), aunque

el nombre del personaje de dicha saga es: Tricia McMilan.

En el lujoso navio de ultima generacion Argonautica, todo el mundo la esta pasando bomba, no hay nada de lo que preocuparse, ni siquiera los ladrones tienen razones para preocuparse, bueno, Trillian Jamesen si, y es que justo cuando esta cometiendo el delito es que la agarran. Por otro lado, una nave que sin ser de ultima generacion se las arregla bastante bien, se dirige hacia el Argonautica con intenciones nada buenas, aunque su capitan: John Finnegan, desconoce las intenciones de los simpaticos caballeros que lo contrataron. Al poco tiempo de llegar Finnegan, junto con su tripulacion y aquellos que contrataron sus servicios, se encuentran con una imagen bastante caotica de la embarcación, y eso es solo el principio, a medida que vaya pasando el tiempo, no solo iran encontrando al resto de los pasajeros, quizas algo mas. ¿ Qué es ese ¨algo mas ¨? Bueno, para averiguarlo, solo hay que mirar: Agua Viva ( Deep Rising ).
Con mano experta, Stephen Sommers pone a disposicion del espectador: acción, aventura, humor, suspenso, terror, buenos efectos especiales, sangre y junto a todo esto, unos buenos actores encargados de hacernos pasar un buen momento; sumado a todo esto, con el nombre de Argonautica, a la memoria de mas de un espectador, llegara el titulo del ultra clasico del stop-motion: Jason y los Argonautas ( Jason and the Argonauts, 1963 ), del capo Ray Harryhausen, aparte de todos los otros titulos del maestro; no solo esto, Agua Viva es un film que tambien tiene mucho de Julio Verne, como por ejemplo 20000 Leguas de Viaje Submarino ( 20000 Leagues Under the Sea, 1954 ), dirigida por Richard Fleischer, o, tambien de Ray Harryhausen, La Isla Misteriosa ( Mysterious Island, 1961 ), dirigida por Cy Endfield; otro genero al que hace acordar esta pelicula es al cine catastrofe, basta con solo un titulo: La Aventura del Poseidon ( The Poseidon Adventure, 1972 ) dirigida por Ronald Neame.
A la hora de elegir a alguien para realizar la musica, nadie mejor que Jerry Goldsmith ( Pasadena, California, Estados Unidos, 10 de febrero de 1929 - Beverly Hills, California, Estados Unidos, 21 de julio de 2004 ), lo que se dice un verdadero maestro; en cada uno de sus trabajos, con su estilo particular, Goldsmith ha hecho que las peliculas tuviesen una mayor profundidad, ademas de dejar grabada en la memoria cantidad de conocidas melodias, los siguientes titulos le pertenecen:

Quizas dista de ser un clasico, hasta inclusive nunca se convierta en uno, pero una cosa de la que Agua Viva ( Deep Rising ) no peca es de aburrimiento, plagada de buenas escenas en mas de un momento, como por ejemplo el primer ataque del monstruo, o el momento gracioso en que estan todos encerrados en el ascensor y escuchan el tema de ¨ La Chica de Ipanema ¨, para luego pasar rapidamente a una escena con mucho suspenso y gore. Sommers dejo el final abierto para una segunda aventura, que hasta el momento no se dio.
Para quien aun no haya visto este titulo del fantastico es bueno que no lo deje pasar.

Vidas de cine II

En esta nueva entrada, Vidas de Cine continua con todas esas pequeñas anecdotas de las cuales muy pocos saben, de esta manera:

Jack Nicholson se llevo tan bien con Tim Burton durante el rodaje de Batman, 1989, que no dudo en volver a trabajar con el realizador de Marte Ataca ( Mars Attacks, 1996 ), donde hacia de dos personajes: el presidente de los Estados Unidos y un excentrico millonario vestido de cowboy. ¨Jack esta siempre deseando hacer cosas nuevas ¨- explica Burton - ¨ y creo que la idea de ponerle de presidente fue genial, dado el espiritu de la pelicula. Tambien le ofreci que hiciera el tipo de Las Vegas, pero no crei que lo aceptara, asi que le dije: ` Bueno Jack, ¿ qué te parece hecer este papel ? ¿ o este otro ? `, y él contesto: ` ¿ qué te parece que los haga todos ? `. Una excentricidad que se permitio el famoso actor durante el rodaje fue ¨ una pequeña broma que ¨- sigue diciendo Burton - ¨ le gusto tanto que habia que repetirla cada día, teniamos que poner ´Hail to the Chief ´ cada vez que entraba en el plato. El tecnico de sonido, lo hizo una vez en plan de broma, pero a Jack le gusto y acabo siendo necesario. Daba un par devueltas por el plato y se ponia a trabajar ¨.

Durante el rodaje de Las Brujas de Eastwick ( The Witches of Eastwick, 1987 ), los productores Peter Guber y Jon Peters se presentaron en el plato a las cuatro de la madrugada para hablar urgentemente con el protagonista del film, Jack Nicholson, porque querian hacerle una proposición. El actor, soñoliento por la hora, les escucho y luego repitio estupefacto: ¨ ¿ Jocker ?, ¿ En Batman ?; ¨Si, Jack, si ¨, insistio Peters. ¨ Muchacho, tienes que estar bromeando ¨- replico Nicholson - ¨No lo haria ni aunque la Warner me diera cincuenta de los grandes ¨. El resto es historia.

En 1971 Cary Grant, ya retirado del cine, se presento en el vestibulo del hotel Beverly Wilshire para asistir a una gala en honor de John Ford, cuando se dio cuenta de que se habia olvidado la invitación. Se acerco a una madura dama que controlaba la entrada y le dijo: ¨¡ Hola ! Me he olvidado la invitación, lo siento muchisimo. ¿ Puedo entrar , por favor ? ¨ La señora le miro con escepticismo y le pregunto: ¨ ¿ Cómo se llama usted ? ¨. ¨ CaryGrant ¨. ¨ No se parece usted a Cary Grant ¨. ¨ Es verdad ¨- replico el actor - ¨, nadie se le parece ¨.
